Q: Is  the bad period over? If yes, what will unfold in the good phase?

Q: Is  the bad period over? If yes, what will unfold in the good phase?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:

Here in Satsang (where all of you are sitting) it's a good period! See, it's up to you, how you define it. If it is a phase in which whatever you do is not giving any results and things are falling apart, it is an opportunity for you to show your brilliance and your ideas. The bad period can bring out all talents and good qualities in you. It can show how patient you are, how balanced and strong you are.
If you have good intentions, and you are doing good work, every period is a good period. Yes, some periods are more challenging than the others. That period will show you who your real friends are.

Actually in a bad period, even your very good friends behave like enemies. And if the time is good, even your enemies behave with you like your friends. This is what you must understand. In Kannada there is a poem, "The one who has 'Hari' (the Lord) in his heart, for him, every time is a good time. Today is the best day if you think of the divine. This moment is the great time to remember the divine'.

Gurudev, you have said that meditation helps our ancestors. When we start mediating the first thing we do is we pay off a debt for our ancestors or give them something. Can you explain this a little further?

Gurudev, you have said that meditation helps our ancestors. When we start mediating the first thing we do is we pay off a debt for our ancestors or give them something. Can you explain this a little further? Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:  Yes, see like your DNA, your body is connected to your parents or to your very close friends. Haven’t you experienced this? Someone very close to you has some problem and you start feeling it in your body. How many have experienced this? So, on the physical level you are connected and more subtle than that is your subtle body. You’re connected to ancestor’s, to your parents. How many of you keep getting dreams of people who have already passed, who have crossed over to other side? So, your mind and your consciousness are linked. So there is a constant energy exchange. Every time you meditate you are generating energy and that energy goes that way also. When you have cleared all these debts, that’s when you’re called a monk...

Q:Can you please say something about the Devikavacham?

Q:Can you please say something about the Devikavacham? Gurudev HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji : The Devikavacham is the different names of the Devi taken to different parts of the body. It’s almost like Yoga Nidra but with names because every name has got some quality and some energy, and name and form are very closely related. ‘Kavach’ means armour, creating an armour around us. It’s very nice. The Devikavacham says the Mother Divine’s names that makes an armour around us, around our body. Especially during Navaratris, this is done on all the nine days. It is very important. Sit and listen to it. The protection is anyway there, but the listening somewhere does something -- it elevates one’s spirit.
